This is an older review of BestPoker that is now closed down

BestPoker launched in May of 2005 and quickly became a popular poker room in Scandinavia. It used to belong to the BestPoker B2B network, but on 15th December, 2006, it went over to the Ongame Network.

It is the only Ongame member to offer a poker statistics program, add-a-friend functionality and a VIP store where players can shop for a variety of different products with their accumulated Player Points.

Software and graphics
BestPoker offers games either directly through their website or the traditional downloadable client. Playing using the client feels more stable than the browser version. However, both give the impression of class, with nice, clean graphics.

The client has several good functions that help gameplay and constitute a differential compared to other poker rooms. Many people prefer not to use the default settings when playing, as this gives their opponents too much information. This has been resolved by implementing a random delay when it is your turn. This is very useful for those who play a lot of tables simultaneously and want to check or bet their hand. The statistics functionality provides more information than many other sites, as you can find things such as the win/loss rate per hour and how many big pots you have won or lost. When two players are all-in and the hole cards are shown, the percentage chance to win for each player is also displayed.

Here, you can choose exactly how many people you want to play against, with tables ranging from 2 to 10 players. It is a little unusual, but playing against 7 or 8 people at a table gives you a good feel for a full table’s advantages whilst also providing similar action to that of a 6 player table.

Games and numbers of players
There are many game possibilities offered and you can easily find a suitable table for any level. No-Limit Texas Hold´em often has games from as low as $0.05/$0.10 up to $50/$100. In addition to Hold’em, Omaha, 7-Card Stud and 5 Card Draw are also offered. Omaha and 7-Card Stud are available both as High and Hi/Lo games. The site sees a good spread of levels, starting at $0.15/$0.30 and reaching up to $500/$1,000 for Fixed and $50/$100 for the No Limit table.

The majority of tournaments are Texas Hold´em No Limit, but you can also find some Omaha and 7-Card Stud ones. There is a large selection of tournaments offered, but a significant drawback is that you can’t see start times in the list, you have to click on each tournament to bring up its details.
