Pacific Poker

Pacific Poker has shut down. This is therefore an old review.

Cassava Enterprises Ltd owns Pacific Poker, as well as Casino-on-Net, which is one of the world’s largest casinos and was launched as early as 1996. So, they definitely have the experience to manage and handle a poker room. Pacific Poker was one of the first poker rooms and as many casino players also tried out poker, good players found the game very loose and rewarding. Unfortunately, Pacific also suffered a bit from being one of the first ones. It was slow to react when the other poker rooms began with Pot and No-Limit games, and it has long had a slightly older client where players are only able to play one table at a time.

Now, Pacific Poker has started anew and delivered an updated, very good client. In the English version of the client, you can now easily play at several tables. Pacific also has a Swedish client that, unfortunately, does not yet support playing at several tables, but both versions support most of what you need as a player.

Software and graphics
With the new client, Pacific Poker is one of the best poker rooms out there. The graphics have been given a real lift and it is now much easier to navigate around the client. The new functionalities include filters in the lobby, the ability to choose your time zone, cool 3D avatars and Ghost Card. As already mentioned, it was previously impossible to play more than one table at a time. This has now been fixed in the English version of the client and will also be rolled out for the Swedish version, soon. It is now also easy to decide on a good table layout when playing more than one at the same time.  One function that Pacific Poker claims to be unique is the ability to see exactly how past hands played out – as if you were sat at the table again. When you tire of playing poker, it is easy to jump to the casino or into a game of backgammon, as both these can be accessed using the client._

Games and numbers of players
Pacific Poker has a decent amount of players despite having its own network. Many of its players come from the casino and are trying out the game.  This means that Pacific Poker has always been known for having plenty of weak players. It now offers all variations of Texas Hold´em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven-Card Stud and Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo, with No-Limit, Pot-Limit and Limit to choose from. As regards the number of players at a table, you can choose between a full table (10 players), a short handed one (6 players), or a heads-up (2 players). You also have the option of playing at jackpot tables to win big money on more than your skill. There are two types of jackpots, Bad Beat and Royal Jackpots.

Tournaments
Tournaments in the new client have been given their own lobby and there is a lot of information provided for each tournament. Pacific Poker has always done its best to get its players to appear at the big masters. This means that you can find loads of satellites to basically any large live tournament, including the WSOP and EPT. You can also find lots of normal tournaments. Every day, a number of tournaments are held with a guaranteed pot of up to $10,000. Tournaments with larger guaranteed pots are also held every week. Before, tournaments with rebuys and add-on were not offered, but they have been included in the latest upgrades.
